#TPTSELLERCHALLENGE- Week 1

 

   It's fun to go back and see what I thought was a "cute" unit when I started on TPT and see what appeals to me now.  So, to help me do this I'm joining the TPT Sellers Challenge!   I am very excited about working on some older units this summer and spicing them up!  This challenge gives me the opportunity to share with you these improvements (or at least I feel they're a little cuter)!  If you'd like to join the "challenge" you can click on the picture below!!

"Wild About Animals Mini Research Packet"

I absolutely love watching kindergarteners grow as writers throughout the year!  It amazes me how much they change as writers from the first day of school to the end of the year.  For one of their Writing Centers this month, my little cowpokes have been sharing what they know about different animals.  They began their research papers by using adjectives to describe their creature.  Teaching little people about using descriptive words is often challenging and interesting!  Not sure they quite got it, but they had fun trying!! 

After they completed their "I can describe..." maps, they move on to share what their creature "has" "can do" and "what they are".  

And finally, they moved on to their informational piece about their creatures!  Aren't ya'll amazed what all they came up with and how well they were able to share information about their creature!?

"Writing the Room"

My little cowpokes this year love writing the room.  They are so sweet going right outside our doorway to write "my" name or one of their little friends names off our spooky jack-o-lanterns.  I found these super cute little "bat" and "skeleton" glasses at Dollar Tree a couple of weeks ago.  Check out these fabulous little writers!!

"How to Build a Snowman"

The little people and I have been learning all about snowmen this week.  Monday we brainstormed a list of things you would need to build a snowman and read several exciting books!  One of our favorites was "Snowmen at Night" by Caralyn Buehner.  Today was read another book by Ms. Buehner on the Smartboard called "Snowmen all Year".  They are super excited about her latest book "Snowmen at Work" which we're going to read tomorrow.  Hidden within the illustrations of the books are other little pictures.  It was a lot of fun looking for the hidden pictures today on the Smartboard.  

Sequencing is one of the goals on our report card in kindergarten.  So, for writing yesterday and today the little people wrote steps for building a snowman.  They are doing an excellent job stretching out their words or using their resources within the classroom to find words they might need in their writing.  Here are a couple of their pieces! By the way, these are from my "Snowmen at Work" unit on TPT.

 (First, roll three snowball. And mittens, eyes and broom.  Next, I will give him a scarf, and hot cocoa and some boots.  Then, a snowflake pipe.  Last, the snow falls down on me.)

 (First, you roll three snowballs.  Next, I will give him a carrot.  

Then, we need to get eyes.  Last, get a mouth.)
