"Wild About Animals Mini Research Packet"

I absolutely love watching kindergarteners grow as writers throughout the year!  It amazes me how much they change as writers from the first day of school to the end of the year.  For one of their Writing Centers this month, my little cowpokes have been sharing what they know about different animals.  They began their research papers by using adjectives to describe their creature.  Teaching little people about using descriptive words is often challenging and interesting!  Not sure they quite got it, but they had fun trying!!

After they completed their "I can describe..." maps, they move on to share what their creature "has" "can do" and "what they are".

And finally, they moved on to their informational piece about their creatures!  Aren't ya'll amazed what all they came up with and how well they were able to share information about their creature!?

I've created a little freebie in case you'd like to do a little farm animal research with you little peeps!  You can click on the images below to go to the freebie!!  This little freebie is a from my larger packet "Wild About Animals".  Enjoy!!

Yikes!!  I've been really bad about posting things on my blog this year!  I do much better posting things we're doing in class on Facebook, than I do on here. So, sorry!!  My goal is to try harder to keep up!

So, without further ado, meet the kindergarten "Tooth Fairy"!!

I absolutely adore the "Tooth Fairy"!! This cutie comes from "First Grade Fever". The little cowpokes did an amazing job both creating and writing about what they would do if they were the "Tooth Fairy"! I thought it would be fun to have a multicultural display, so here they are!

Check out those teeth!!

A little over half of our Tooth Fairies!!

Hi everyone!!

I'm linking up with Greg over at "Kindergarten Smorgasboard" to share some of my favorite books for the week!! This week we're going to finish up "Sneezy the Snowman" and move on to Arctic Animals. I feel like I've been living in the Arctic this winter.  Once again we are out of school due to the super cold wintery conditions!  Day number 5!   Yikes!   It feels like since Christmas Break we've been out of school more than in school.  The little cowpokes were so excited last Friday to be in school!  I'm hoping to be back in school tomorrow, so we can get started on our "icy friends"!  One of my absolute favorite fiction arctic animal books is "Tooth Trouble".  What a great little book to reinforce our learning on text-to-self connections and inferences.  Hope you'll check out some of our favorite books for January!!  If you'd like to link up with "Kindergarten Smorgasboard" just click on "Books I Love".  Thanks for stopping by and checking out some of our favorite books for this last "icy" week in January!!

Brr...!!!  It's cold outside!

Don't know about all of you, but I'm glad I have a home that is cozy inside!!  The wind chill here in Central Illinois is extremely cold today.  Our district has already cancelled school for tomorrow!  This is unheard of this early in the day, but they don't want to risk little ones waiting on buses or staff driving into to work.  So... I've been playing around on my ipad creating and on my computer.  Here are a few of my new creations!!

Doodle Frames/Borders includes 12 different colored frames/borders both with white centers and without!

Here is one of the frames in this little packet!

Penguin Clips!!

And, last but not least a "freebie"!!  Snowflake digis!!

How have you been spending the past few days??  Please share!
